This was one of the first projects I did outside of school. The Heckmondwike Players are a theater group in England who reached out to me to help them out with posters and effects for their shows and they helped me out with work and practicing my skills. The images for this Stepping Out poster was created using reference photos and the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. The play is based in the 80’s but when I think of musicals I think of older days when you go to the theater. The red carpet and curtains, the golden handrails, and the darkness that happens when the house lights go down before the show begins. I took those colors and applied them to this poster and the color combination brought elegance to the poster. When I had my peers review it, they suggested adding some texture to help separate the text from the rest of the poster and having the website to be in white font so it draws the attention and clearly informs the viewers where to get tickets. I applied both suggestions and the texture gave it more character while changing the font color really helps separate the website from the rest of the text.
