This project was also apart of the pop art fruit series I was creating for myself. With the lemons, not only was the design strong enough to stand alone, but putting them in the Smooth Sippin’ project didn’t make sense. This design was inspired by my memories of having lemonade soda on my holidays like Lemon Fanta and Kas. They didn’t has that sickly sweet taste that is connected to other sodas, it was so refreshing and perfect for a summer day. I wanted to capture that feeling while creating this project and blue and yellow is a common color combination when creating a design with lemons, adding to the fresh feeling. I made the polka dot background to represent the carbonation of the drink which in turn gave me the idea for the slogan. Rather than the traditional saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” I wanted the advertisement to grab peoples attention and give them an idea of what this product contains, so I finished it off with “Add a little sparkle.” I attempts to add a sparkle image to that word in Photoshop, however using this effect made the advertisement look tacky. I found the grocery cart and advertisement mock ups on Freepik after a couple of days of searching. I feel that an advertisement like this would be best displayed on a poster like this because it gets the viewers attention, its the first thing they see going into the store so they have it in their mind, it’s not overbearing on the eyes, and its well balanced. The text in the corner balances out the soda pop graphic and is split by the diagonal line created by the blue and yellow colored background. The majority of the image was created and edited with Photoshop, with the exception of the original lemon image created in Procreate.
